How it measures

Your catch, measured in seconds.

Measure uses your iPhone camera to trace your fish from nose to tail and gives you an estimated length on the spot. Not quite right? Drag the end points to fine-tune it.

How it works

Three steps, no tape required.

From fish on the ground to length in your catch log in under 10 seconds.

Step 1

Lay it flat

Place your fish side-on on a flat surface: the ground, a board or the deck. Not in your hands.

Step 2

Frame it from above

Open Tackle Box → Measure, hold your iPhone over the fish and line it up with the outline.

Step 3

Tap Measure

Get the length in seconds. Drag the end points to fine-tune, then tap Add to Catch.

Why anglers will use it

The tape measure you never leave at home.

No tape, no ruler

Your iPhone is already in your pocket. That's all you need.

Quick release

Measure in seconds and get the fish back in the water fast.

Straight into your catch log

Tap Add to Catch and the length is saved with the date, place and conditions.

Identify and share

Run Fish Identify on the same shot, or send the catch to your buddies.

Avoid measuring a fish held in your hands; lay it flat on the ground instead

Pro tip

Lay it flat, not in your hands.

A fish held up for the camera is angled and partly hidden by your fingers, so the length comes out wrong. Lay it flat and shoot straight down from above for the best result.

Good to know: Measure is available on iPhone only. Lengths are estimates and can be affected by angle, light and distance. Where legal size limits apply, always confirm with a ruler or tape before you keep a fish.
