Privacy Policy — Fishing Calendar
This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect when you use the Fishing Calendar app, why we collect it, who we share it with, and what rights you have over it.
Fishing Calendar is developed and operated by TOP APP d.o.o. (“we”, “us”, “our”), registered at Špruha 19, 1236 Trzin, Slovenia (VAT: SI41696093). TOP APP d.o.o. is the data controller for the personal data described in this policy.
This Privacy Policy forms part of, and is incorporated by reference into, the Fishing Calendar Terms & Conditions.

1. Data we collect
1.1 Data you give us
- Account data — email address, password (stored hashed), display name. If you sign in with Apple, Google or Facebook, we receive the identifier and (unless you hide it) the email address associated with that account.
- Profile data — display name, profile photo, bio, and any other details you choose to add.
- Fishing content — catch logs (species, weight, length, bait, tackle, date, conditions), catch photos, saved fishing spots, trips, notes and diary entries.
- Community content — posts, comments, likes, reports, and direct messages you send to other users.
- Fish Identifier photos — see section 2 below.
- Support and contact data — the content of in-app support requests and emails you send us.
- Newsletter data — your email address, if you subscribe.
1.2 Data collected automatically
- Device and technical data — device model and name, operating system name and version, app version and build, language, region and time zone, country code, screen size, storage size, network type (Wi‑Fi / mobile), IP address, and device identifiers such as IDFV (iOS Vendor ID) and Android App Set ID.
- Usage data — screens viewed, features used, session start/stop times, taps on key actions, and aggregated interaction statistics.
- Diagnostics — crash reports, error logs, and performance data.
- Location data — see section 4 below.
We do not sell your personal data. The App does not use cookies, does not use the Apple Advertising Identifier (IDFA), does not run an advertising SDK, and does not share your data with third parties for their own independent advertising purposes.
2. Fish Identifier photos
When you use the Fish Identifier feature to take or upload a photo of a fish, that photo (and any associated metadata, such as the time or location attached to it, if provided) is sent to and processed by our servers and/or third‑party AI processing providers to generate a species identification result. Please do not submit photos that include other people without their consent.
Additional detail on how this works:
- Purpose. The photo is processed solely to return a species identification suggestion to you, and to monitor and improve the accuracy and reliability of the feature.
- Legal basis. Performance of our contract with you (providing the feature you requested), and our legitimate interest in maintaining and improving the accuracy of the service.
- Your consent. Before your first use of Fish Identifier, the App asks for your explicit permission to send your photo to a third‑party AI provider for processing. You can decline, in which case the feature is not available, and you can withdraw permission at any time in the App’s settings.
- Processors. Identification is performed by our own servers and/or by third‑party AI model providers acting as our processors under written data processing agreements. These providers process the image only to return a result to us and are contractually prohibited from using it for their own purposes.
- Model training. Photos you submit are not used to train third‑party AI models.
- Retention. Photos submitted to Fish Identifier are retained only as long as needed to return the result and to investigate accuracy issues, and are deleted on the schedule described in section 9. If you choose to save an identified fish to your catch log, the photo is stored with that log entry until you delete it.
- Faces and other people. The feature is designed to analyse fish, not people. We do not use the photos for facial recognition or any form of biometric identification.
- Location metadata. If the photo carries EXIF location data, it may be transmitted with the image. You can strip location metadata in your device’s camera or privacy settings if you prefer not to share it.
3. Community, profiles and messages
The App includes a Community where anglers share catches, comment, chat and exchange tips.
- Publicly visible: your display name, profile photo, bio, public posts, catch photos you choose to share, comments, and any location you attach to a public post. Please treat anything you post publicly as visible to all users of the App.
- Direct messages are visible to you and the recipient. They are stored on our servers so they can be delivered and synced across your devices. They are not end‑to‑end encrypted, and we may access message content where strictly necessary to investigate a report of abuse, to comply with a legal obligation, or to protect the safety of users.
- Reports and moderation. If you report content, or your content is reported, we process the report, the content in question, and the associated account identifiers in order to enforce our Community Rules. We keep moderation records for as long as necessary to handle repeat violations.
- Blocking. You can block another user at any time from their profile or from any of their posts.
4. Location data
- With your permission, we use your device’s precise location to show solunar, tide and weather data for where you are, to find nearby fishing spots, and to tag catches and saved spots.
- Location is requested only while you are using the App. We do not collect background or continuous location tracking.
- You can grant approximate rather than precise location, or refuse location entirely, in your device settings. If you refuse, you can still use the App by searching for or tapping a location manually.
- Locations you attach to public posts are visible to other users. Locations you save privately (saved spots, private catch log entries) are not shared with other users.
5. Camera and photo library access
The App asks for access to your camera and photo library so you can add photos to catch logs, community posts, your profile, and Fish Identifier. We access only the specific images you select or capture — we do not scan or upload your photo library. You can change or revoke these permissions at any time in your device settings.

Third‑party services are governed by their own privacy policies. We are not responsible for the practices of third‑party services.
8. International transfers
We are based in Slovenia (EU) and store data primarily within the European Economic Area. Some of our processors operate outside the EEA, including in the United States. Where personal data is transferred outside the EEA or the UK, we rely on an adequacy decision of the European Commission, or on Standard Contractual Clauses together with any additional safeguards required. You can request further information about these safeguards using the contact details in section 17.

10. Deleting your account and data
You can delete your Fishing Calendar account and all associated data in either of two ways — you do not need the App installed to do so.
1. In the App: Profile → Settings → Account → Delete Account.
2. By email: write to info@fishingcalendarapp.com with the subject “Fishing Calendar account deletion request”, from the email address associated with your account. We will confirm receipt and complete the deletion within 30 days.
You do not need to cancel a subscription before deleting your account, but note that deleting your account does not automatically cancel an active Apple or Google subscription — you must cancel that separately in your Apple ID or Google Play account settings to avoid further charges.
When you delete your account:
- your profile, public posts, comments and catch log are removed from the App;
- your direct messages are removed from your side of the conversation (copies held by a recipient may remain visible to them);
- content that other users have already re‑shared or quoted may remain visible, as described in the Terms & Conditions;
- residual copies persist in encrypted backups for up to 90 days before being overwritten;
- we retain the minimum records we are legally required to keep, such as purchase and tax records.
Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. Deleting the App from your device does not delete your account.
11. Your privacy rights
Subject to applicable law, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you and receive a copy;
- Rectify inaccurate or incomplete data;
- Erase your data (“right to be forgotten”);
- Restrict or object to processing based on our legitimate interests;
- Data portability — receive your data in a structured, commonly used, machine‑readable format;
- Withdraw consent at any time, without affecting processing carried out before withdrawal;
- Lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. In Slovenia this is the Information Commissioner (Informacijski pooblaščenec). You may also complain to the authority in your country of residence.
To exercise any of these rights, email info@fishingcalendarapp.com. We will respond within one month; complex requests may be extended by a further two months, and we will tell you if that happens. We may ask you to verify your identity before acting on a request.
11.1 Residents of California and other US states
We do not sell or share personal information for cross‑context behavioural advertising as those terms are defined under the CCPA/CPRA. Depending on your state, you may have the right to know, delete, correct, and to appeal a refused request, and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights. Submit requests to info@fishingcalendarapp.com.
12. Purchases and subscriptions
The App is free to download and offers optional in‑app purchases and subscriptions. All payments are processed by the Apple App Store or Google Play — we never receive or store your card number or full billing details. We receive a confirmation of the purchase, the product purchased, and the subscription status linked to your account so that we can unlock premium features.
Subscription management, renewals, cancellations and refunds are handled through your Apple or Google account settings and are subject to their terms.
13. Push notifications and marketing
We send push notifications about bite times, saved‑spot conditions, community activity and app updates only if you have enabled them. We store a push token so we can deliver them; if you unsubscribe, the token is deleted. You can turn notifications off entirely in your device settings, or granularly in the App’s notification settings.
Marketing emails and the newsletter are sent only with your consent and every message contains a one‑click unsubscribe link. Transactional emails (password resets, purchase receipts, security notices) are not marketing and cannot be opted out of while you hold an account.
14. Children
The App is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 16 in the EEA/UK, or under 13 in the United States and other jurisdictions where that is the applicable age. Community features (posting, commenting, direct messaging) are intended for users aged 16 and over.
If we learn that we have collected personal data from a child below the applicable age without valid parental consent, we will delete it promptly. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact info@fishingcalendarapp.com and we will act without undue delay.
15. Security
We apply appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit (TLS), encryption at rest for stored content and backups, hashed password storage, access controls limiting staff access to a need‑to‑know basis, and regular review of our providers. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a personal data breach is likely to result in a high risk to your rights and freedoms, we will notify you and the competent supervisory authority as required by law.
16. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The current version is always published on this page with the “Last updated” date at the top. Where changes are material — for example, a new category of data or a new purpose — we will give you reasonable advance notice in the App or by email before the change takes effect. Your continued use of the App after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
